Senior Citizens’ Day at Medica

1st October was the ‘International Day for the Elderly’ and we at Medica had planned to make this day very special for them with a bouquet of activities and offers. Senior Citizens’ Day celebrations were held with grand success in our Conference Room last Thursday. We had organized a day full of interactive sessions with our Doctors. An hour each had been earmarked for the sessions, but the Doctors had to stretch their sessions much beyond the allotted time, unable to stem the flow of questions from our senior guests!

A health check-up package comprising ECG, Echo, Chest x-ray, Fasting Blood Sugar and Cholesterol was offered free, along with 3 OPD consultations (with 6-month validity period) to all the attendees. Free membership to our Senior Citizens’ Club was also offered. The response to the communication sent out through ads and sms was heart-warming, with more than 500 callers inquiring about the day’s activities.

293 Senior Citizens attended the sessions. We had placed the Senior Citizens’ Counselling Desk along with a table explaining our new initiative ‘Swasthya Mitra’ outside the conference room for the benefit of the new visitors.

Heartened with this overwhelming response to our initiative, we now plan to hold more such sessions, not just for the senior citizens but for people of all ages, at regular intervals, to connect better with the society and generate awareness.
